At the crown the hair leaves the scalp in a spiral, and the eye reads any break in that spiral immediately. Coverage here also costs more grafts than the same area at the front, because the scalp is seen from above and light passes straight through thin placement. The crown is therefore planned against the donor supply as a whole: filling it fully in one session can be the wrong decision if the frontal line will recede later.

Can a fully bald crown be covered in one operation?

Sometimes, but the honest answer depends on the donor area. A large crown may need staging, or a combination of transplant and micropigmentation, and that is said at the consultation rather than discovered afterwards.

Does crown hair grow back more slowly?

The timeline is the same as elsewhere — shedding in the first month, visible growth from the fourth, the outcome judged at a year — but the crown looks thinner for longer because it is viewed from above.
